Dear Elsie, and Conrad, and Fred,
I hadn't seen or heard from Jackie in years, but she was often in my thoughts and I was very saddened to learn of her untimely death. We were friends in college; years later, when she still lived in NYC she came to see my toddler daughter and me one Feb weekend, complete with snow storm, and then in the spring we stayed with her in the city. She was going through a rough time then and soon needed distance and retreat. I always hoped we would reconnect, and am glad that she found Fred and had some years of happiness with him.
My heart goes out to you all.
Take care,
Nancy Ashton

Dear Elsie, Connie, and all the rest of the Ruppert/Frost family,
Jackie and I were pals at Zion in the Junior Choir, in Sunday School and confirmation class together, and in school. I had long since moved out of the area, returning to visit family occasionally, and it was on such a visit this weekend that I learned of her untimely death. I am shocked and saddened, and my heart goes out to you all. She was a brilliant person, both in mind and character, and obviously made her mark on the world. I would have expected nothing less of her. My most heartfelt condolences to you all -
Gail Wild

To Jackie's family:
It was a privilege to know Jackie over the years and such a shock to read of her death. She used her legal skills to work on behalf of victims of domestic violence, so you can be very proud of her for that. She will be greatly missed in the community.
My thoughts are with you at this difficult time,
Barbara Lindsey (former staff member of Grace Smith House and board member of the Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault)

Dear Jackie's family,
I am a childhood friend of Jackie. We spent many of our junior high years hanging out in the park in Red Oaks Mill talking about clothes, boys and the usual early teenage topics. We shared many classes and challenged each other academically. It was important to have a good friend at that age.
I am glad for these fond memories and extend my deepest sympathies to all of you.
Regards,
Janet Comatos Gauland

Dear Fred,
I remember when Jackie and yourself were "getting serious" and Jackie asked us, the staff of the Poughkeepsie office of legal services, to go out to lunch with the two of you so that we could meet you. She wanted to show you off and to allow us to share in the excitement of her newfound happiness. Thank you for making her happy during the time you two had together. It was clear that she loved you very much.

Jackie's Family,
I direct the Commission's PADD program and as such, I knew Jackie as the first attorney to work on or PADD contract with Westchester Putnam Legal Services. Jackie, as you know, had a wonderful capacity for empathy. She was an ardent advocate for persons with disabilities and she established precedent in a variety of cases. Most of all, in addition to admiring Jackie's legal acumen we, enjoyed many a laugh in swapping some outrageous stories. I join you in mourning the loss of a wonderful human being who gained the respect of all she met. Love, Bill Combes
