Gregory F. Zaubi
Gregory F. Zaubi, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. He was 68.
Son of the late Gregor and Mary Kirc Zaubi, he was born October 30, 1940 in New York City. During High School, he was lead in many plays and was in the all city chorus. He was proud of the fact that he sang in Carnegie Hall. He was also a competitive body builder in his younger years.
On August 25, 1962 in St. Celica's Church in Brooklyn he married the former Mary Ann C. Smora. Mrs. Zaubi survives at home in Wappingers Falls. He worked at IBM, Poughkeepsie for twenty-seven years and for the last five years he worked at Marist College where he was a Systems Programmer. He enjoyed the college community at Marist. Gregory was a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill where he was an Eucharistic Minister. He was also involved in the Fishkill KAIROS Prison Ministry.
In addition to his wife of forty-six years, Mary Ann C. Zaubi, he is survived by his four daughters, Gina Mann and her husband, Ken, Barbara Kaergel and her husband, Ken, Sharon Zaubi and Chrisann Cozza and her husband, Massimo; his sister, Mary Barroli; his grandchildren, Elissa, Mitchell, Jonathan, Troy, Brett, Luke and Kyra and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Albert.
Family will receive their friends on Saturday, December 27, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, December 28 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Monday, December 29 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum.
