Obituary of Robert S. Adam

Robert Adam, 71, Fishkill, New York, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Sunday, November 26, 2023.

Bob was born July 26, 1952, in Yonkers New York, to the late William and Rosemary (Connors) Adam.  He moved to Fishkill and graduated from John Jay High School in 1970.  He went to SUNY New Paltz and from there taught English for the Wappingers Central School District at Roy C. Ketcham High School for 32 years.  Bob loved teaching and left lasting impressions on many students with his open mindedness and non-judgmental ways.  He wanted them to love writing as much as he did and encouraged them to open their minds and "break on through to the other side."  Bob was very much into the arts.  He loved writing poetry, playing guitar and painting.  He enjoyed getting out "on the road" like Jack Kerouac and traveled across the country many times with his trusty maps as his guide.  Whenever a relative would come to town to tour New York City, Bob was the perfect guy for the job.

Bob leaves behind his wife Lori Adam of Fishkill and brothers William Adam and wife Annathen of Virginia and Dan Adam and wife Corinne of Arizona.  He has a niece and nephews and many cousins and stepchildren and grandchildren who he adored.  

The family wishes to thank Hudson Valley Hospice for all their compassion and support during this difficult time.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 27, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York
