Maya and Family,
Our heartfelt condolences although rather late. Just received this sad news today.
May Pat’s memory be a blessing and his smile bring you all a smile in return. Nice picture.
Jay lived near Pat and had a friendship thru the yrs of drag racing and early days of our marriage with Pat being a groomsman in our wedding. (Celebrating 50 yrs in August)
Many parties and get togethers in the early yrs.into the wee hrs of the morn.
Last time we ran into Pat was in Fishkill when
We stopped at Panera and had a quick bite before getting on the road for our weekend get away. Pat had graciously taken his mother out to eat and we had a nice conversation with both.
Time and procrastination are seldom kind.
Wish we had connected many times over.
From time to time you have been in our thoughts , and will remain so.
These times are hard and strange. Keep each other close

Pat,
Your ET was much too quick!
PAT....Your ET was much too quick!
PAT, your ET was much too quick!
Although the last time I saw Pat was in the summer of 1969, my memories of him bring back nothing but great times and a wonderful friendship. The world has lost a truly wonderful man.
Besides having the US Navy, the same schools (St. Mary’s and OLL) in common we shared a love of Drag Racing and making machines go faster. For me it all started with getting to know Pat and his good friend Doug Smith and a group of fellow car enthusiast’s called the “ Crankmasters”auto club .
I was intrigued by Pats desire to run a six cylinder and not a V8 like everyone else. I don’t remember the year but I think it was a 54 chevy 6 cylinder that Pat first raced called the “TALL MAN” forerunner of the 57 Chevy ”Six Fiend” and of course the 68 Camaro.
Having moved to the West coast in 1974, I did not have the opportunity to know Pat’s wife and family but I am sending my heartfelt condolences.

When Patrick was born Pat stopped by the machine shop where I was working and he just kept exclaiming "and he's 24" long" and used his ruler to show us how big he was! He was so awed that he had a child.

Met Pat at his speed shop in 1970 and was friends since then. Saw him every now and then especially at the Wappinger Falls Post Office where he was mailing many boxes of train items. He is the last of the car/hotrod guys I knew. He was truly an extremely nice man and human being. My condolences to his family. God bless him!

Our heartfelt condolences to Maya, Patrick Jr, Nicole and Mike.
One of our indelible memories of Pat that will stay with us is his smile. You could sense his smile in his eyes. There was a glint in his eyes whether the smile was for a joke or simple happiness. It was an extraordinarily youthful and genuine expression of joy! We will keep this image of Pat in our hearts and minds!
Our thoughts are with you,
Christian and Agnes

Pat and I were classmates at Lourdes. When we started at OLL there were only 2 classes in the school, so everyone knew everyone and we did everything together. Pat was a good friend through high school. We lost track of each other after graduation. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Pat's family on your loss. RIP Pat.

I would like to share a memory of time I spent with Pat at a drag race nearly fifty years ago that had left a lasting impression on us. As we all know, Pat was an accomplished drag racer with his 1968 Camaro for many years. In the early 70's he qualified to enter the NHRA Nationals in Indianapolis, which was quite an honor. He asked me to accompany him to help out. We left late on a Wednesday and drove through the night, subsiding on beer and potato chips. Arriving in the Indy area we begin to search for a play to stay, however this being a national event we didn't find anything. Discouraged we did the next best thing, found a bar and went to get a beer, (I still recall the name, "Bookers Red Door Saloon"). The sight of race car on the trailer had a few locals gawking at it and asked if there were any available accommodations nearby. A guy that appeared to be a farmer told us to follow him to his place. His wife and he insisted we stay with them for the weekend and we were welcome to use his barn and equipment to make any needed repairs. These wonderful folks not only gave us a place to sleep, but fed us, packed us lunches, and even washed our clothes. At the end of the weekend we offered them a couple of hundred dollars but they asked us to donate it to their church instead.
I was deeply impressed by the generosity of this family which has left an impression with me to this day. Pat and I would often discuss this event and the impact it had on us.
Oh, we didn't do very well at the track, having lost in the second round of eliminations, but we did meet numerous drag racing stars of the time.
Pat, if it wasn't for you I never would have had one of the best adventures of my life.

Pat was our neighbor on McGrath Terrace. He and my brother Bob hung out a bit and when I got a little older I got to know Pat more. We were always about cars..We both raced at our “local” track (Dover Drag Strip). One memory I have was when we were towing his Camaro out to Indy and the tow car broke on the Ohio Trnpk. I got to stay with the car and start taking it apart while he got a ride to get parts. That was an experience.. We did a little drinking lol..skipped school etc. all the fun things. Visited Pat and Maya a few years ago in Wappingers. Was planning on going back this coming summer.
RIP friend..

I just read the obituary of Patrick Hennebery on the Submarine Sailor web site.
In my younger days, I was into model trains and I use to frequent his shop Valley Model Trains.
But, Pat and I never made the connection that we were both submarine sailors.
The talk was always about the trains and once in awhile we talked about the car racing.
But, we never discussed military service.
I remember Pat as an honest and trusting person. The conversations were always good.
The last contact we had was when he closed the model train shop about 20 years ago.
My condolences to the family.
