Obituary of Josephine E. Pulicano

Josephine E. Pulicano, a resident of the Town of Fishkill, entered into rest Friday, April 6, 2012 at her home. She was 93. Daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina Picone, she was born March 16, 1919 in the Bronx. On February 15, 1942 at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls, she married Dominic J. "Blackie" Pulicano. Mr. Pulicano preceded her in death on May 16, 2003. Mrs. Pulicano was a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Fishkill. She was a member of various senior citizen groups. She enjoyed reading and was artistic. Recently, she was volunteering at the Fishkill Food Pantry, where she was known as the "egg lady." Most importantly, she was devoted to her family. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children, Diane M. Sedore and her husband, James L., Jr. of Fishkill, Christine Vallo of Wappingers Falls and Paul Pulicano and his wife, Judi of Wappingers Falls; her sisters, Marie Sassi of Connecticut and Madeline Masciola of Wappingers Falls; her four grandchildren, Nicole Vandewater, Justine Megna, Aaron Pulicano and Ian Pulicano; her three great-grandchildren, Vincent, Myles and Braydon as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband of sixty-one years, she was predeceased by her sister, Tina and brothers, Paul and Paul. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.
