Obituary of Karen A. DiStasio

Karen A. DiStasio, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh. She was 54. Daughter of Alice Petty Wilson of Poughkeepsie and the late Thomas Wilson, she was born February 20, 1957 in Poughkeepsie. In 1979, she married Dante M. DiStasio. Mr. DiStasio survives at home in Wappingers Falls. In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by her children, Peter and his wife, Shannon, Anthony, Rachel and Julia; her sister, Judy Smith; her brother, Tom Wilson; her grandchild, Ryan and several nieces and nephews. For over twenty-five years Karen had worked for MetroNorth until her retirement in 2010. She had especially missed all her friends on the railroad. Her greatest passions in life were her family, reading and gardening. She will be truly missed. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 9 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
