Obituary of Marjorie W. Shimmin
Marjorie W. Shimmin passed away peacefully Saturday, January 24th at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
She was born on April 24, 1920 in Quincy, Massachusetts. She grew up in Milton, Mass. where she met and married her husband H. William Shimmin, Jr. (deceased) in October 1952. They raised their two children Peter W. Shimmin (deceased) and Janet G. Shimmin (Beverly, Mass.) in Wappingers Falls.
Majorie joined the Marine Corps during WWII, in 1943, where she was a Staff Sargent and a control tower operator at Camp Lejeune, NC. She was a secretary at the Jewish Community Center in Poughkeepsie and later was secretary of the New Hackensack Reformed Church where she and her family were long time members and she sang in the choir for many years. She also volunteered her time with Literacy Volunteers of America - Dutchess County (now Literacy Connections).
She was currently residing at the Fountains in Millbrook. Besides her daughter, she is survived by her brother and sisters in-law, a niece, three nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews.
She will be interred at a private ceremony at Wappingers Rural Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376, Wappinger Falls, Saturday January 31 at 11:00 am.

She was a very special lady and will be missed by a great number of people.
