Vera Cline Hamilton-Gannon
Vera Cline Hamilton-Gannon a resident of Hyde Park and former longtime resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Thursday, February 22, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie. She was 79.
Daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Kessler Cline, she was born February 15, 1928 in Hopewell Junction.
On September 7, 1947 she married Douglas T. Hamilton. Mr. Hamilton preceded her in death on July 12, 1980. On October 12, 2000 she married William Gannon. Mr. Gannon survives at home in Hyde Park.
Vera was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls and was a former longtime member of the Hughsonville Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, collecting, sewing, knitting, traveling and cooking.
In addition to her husband, William Gannon of Hyde Park, she is survived by her children, Wayne T. Hamilton of Danville, Vermont and his wife, Rachel Senechal of East Montpelier, Vermont, Barry D. Hamilton and his wife, Susan of Whitsett, North Carolina and Heidi Dohrenwend and her husband, Robert of Wappingers Falls; her stepchildren, Kelly Burch and her husband, Michael of Wake Forest, North Carolina, Tom Gannon and his wife, Peggy of Raleigh, North Carolina, Steven Gannon of Morrisville, North Carolina and Billy Gannon of Salt Point; her brother, Gordon F. Cline and his wife, Frances of Lady Lakes, Florida; her sister, Evelyn Grab of Hudson; her sisters-in-law, Frances Cline, Ruth Sutton, Dorothy Stickle, Rita Robishaw and Jean O'Hearn; her brother-in-law, William Hamilton; her grandchildren, Hannah, Thomas, Christian, Cory and Stephen Hamilton and Nicole and Jamie Dohrenwend; three great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Harold F. Cline and two step-children, Robert Gannon and Kathy Decker.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 26 at the First Presbyterian Church, South Avenue, Wappingers Falls.
Interment will follow in the family plot in Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Junction.
