Maureen C. Wells
Maureen C. Wells, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 70.
Daughter of the late William and Margaret McLoughlin Manning she was born May 26, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts. On July 13, 1968 she married Robert T. Wells, Jr. in Greenwood Lake, New York. Mr. Wells preceded her in death July 11, 1987.
Maureen was parish secretary at St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls where she was also a parishioner. She retired in 1998.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Queen of Peace #1534, and the Third Order of Franciscans. She was a past president of St. Mary's Mothers Guild and past secretary of the Dutchess County St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. Maureen also enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends.
She is survived by her two sons, Robert M. Wells and his wife, Jean of Poughkeepsie and Scott G. Wells of Fishkill; her sister, Margaret Weaver of White Plains; her grandchildren, Aidan, Bernadette and Alana and Daniel and Morgan; six nephews and one niece and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Roseanne MacGuire.
Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, January 2, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, New York 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
