Thomas J. McGimpsey
Thomas J. McGimpsey, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 60.
Son of the late John and Mary Fitzsimmons McGimpsey, he was born September 16, 1946 in Peekskill. Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968.
He married the former Lorraine Adams on September 20, 1969 in Peekskill. Mrs. McGimpsey survives at home.
Thomas was an administrator for the Department of Labs and Research,
Westchester County, Valhalla. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing.
In addition to his wife of 37 years, Lorraine J. McGimpsey, he is survived by his son, Thomas McGimpsey, Jr. and his wife, Kate of Hopewell Junction; his daughter, Lori Long and her husband, Richard of Poughkeepsie; his twin brother, James McGimpsey; his sisters, Marilyn Comer and Ann Bridgyer and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Miller.
Family will receive their friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, October 18 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the American Cancer Society, 45 Reade Place, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
