Robert P. Moran
Robert Patrick Moran of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at his residence. He was 64.
Son of the late Michael Joseph and Madeline Byrne Moran, he was born on March 14, 1942 in Dublin, Ireland. He immigrated to the United States with his family in 1962. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1963-1966.
On October 9, 1971 he married the former Mary Ann Maciocha at Immaculate Conception Church in Irvington, NY. Mrs. Moran survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Robert attended the Culinary College of Dublin and went on to serve an apprenticeship in Zurich, Switzerland. He most recently worked as a chef for New York State Corrections in Wallkill until his retirement. Mr. Moran was always very involved in his community volunteering in team sports and Boy Scouts. He also had a great love for gardening.
In addition to his wife of 35 years, Mary Ann Moran, he is survived by his son, Robert Michael Moran of Syracuse; his daughter, Meghan Bridget Moran at home; his brothers, John D. Moran and his wife, Linda of Manalapan, NJ and Joseph Moran and his wife, Mary of Kildare, Ireland; his sisters, Marie Long of Westfield, NJ, Cecilia Moran of Chestnut Ridge and Clare Salvaggio of New York City; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his sister, Nuala Pelletier.
Family will receive their friends on Thursday, October 12, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday, October 13 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Jackson Street in Fishkill. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill.
Memorial donations may be made in Robert's name to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or a charity of one's choice.
