Obituary of Harriet Schlander

Harriet R. Schlander Harriet R. Schlander, formerly of Waterbury, CT, entered into rest August 2, 2006 at Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 83. Daughter of the late Morton Silas Thompson and Nellie Kinney Thompson, she was born on April 20, 1923 in North Kent, CT. Harriet was very devoted to her family, spending her years caring for her two children. She was also an avid bingo player and enjoyed vacationing at the beach. Harriet devoted much of her time volunteering in her community. Survivors include her son, Robert Schlander of Waterbury, CT; her daughter, Patti Davis and her husband, Charles of Fishkill; her brothers, John and Morton Thompson; her sisters, Ella Darrow and Vivian Schneider; one grandson, Brian Davis; and several nieces and nephews. Harriet is predeceased by her siblings, Nellie, Charles, Howard and Frank Thompson and Emma Jillson. Family will receive their friends on Friday, August 4 from 4-7 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Saturday, August 5 at 10 a.m. at Kent Congregational Church Cemetery in Kent, CT.
