Obituary of Richard Pyle

Richard Pyle, age 81 of Poughkeepsie, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015. He was born to the late Walter Pyle and Florence Garrison Pyle on October 2, 1933 in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania. Richard graduated Sharon Hill High School and then served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps at Cherry Point Naval Air Station in North Carolina. He received his Bachelors of Science Degree and completed advanced studies at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His professional career began in research and development at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and continued at the Frankfort Arsenal where he worked in America's space program on Project Mercury. A long career as a research engineer with IBM followed where he contributed to the science that enables our modern computers. He retired from IBM Fishkill. Family, and his children, were Richard's passion and delight. He grew up with his mother and brothers with their family business outside Philadelphia and spent summers in his early years with his family and children at the beach in New Jersey. Teaching and supporting his children and grandchildren in their many endeavors, as they learned the wonders and challenges of life was his greatest joy. Richard's brothers Walter and Robert preceded him in death and he is survived by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Susan Triolo, and his sons Richard and Jeffery. His grandchildren Ryan, Lauren, Cooper and Elijah Pyle were the center of his life as he enjoyed his retirement years. He also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will receive visitors and hold a memorial service on Friday, January 23rd at 11:00AM at Straub Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Interment will be private at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Richard requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project P.O.
