Obituary of Geraldine Schwartz Berry

Geraldine Schwartz Berry Geraldine Schwartz Berry, 89, of Wappingers Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 6, 2011. Geraldine was born in Hitchcock, Oklahoma on February 27, 1922 to the late John and Francis Schwartz. She received her RN from St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City in 1945. Geraldine married David C. Berry on July 21, 1946 and subsequently lived the first four years of married life in Germany. Upon returning to the United States, she and her husband settled in University Park, Maryland where Geraldine lived for fifty-two years. She worked faithfully as a registered nurse from 1952 until her retiring at age 78. Since 2002, she has resided with her daughter and son-in-law in Wappingers Falls. She is survived by her daughter, Gerry Enger and her husband, Tom of Wappingers Falls; her son, David W. Berry and his wife, Sharon of Ashburn, Virginia; her grandchildren, Rachel Berry and her husband, Jose Cedillos, Jonathan Berry and his wife, Andrea and Nicholas Berry. Besides being a devoted mother and grandmother, Geraldine loved her dogs Cody, Ashley and Cupid's Baby. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Wesley Schwartz, Woodrow Schwartz, Harlan Schwartz and Barnsie Schwartz and her sisters, Mary Ellen Abernathy and Martha Bell Ritter. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Hopewell Reformed Church, 143 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction with Rev. Mark Mast officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
