Obituary of Robert J. Colarusso

Robert J. Colarusso Robert J. Colarusso of Hopewell Junction entered into rest Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 65. Son of the late Alfred and Florence Trioano Colarusso, he was born on August 4, 1945 in Mount Vernon. He married the love of his life, Florence Stradling on October 6, 1968 in Mount Vernon; Mrs. Colarusso survives at home. Robert worked for many years as a truck driver for various companies throughout Westchester County, until his retirement. In his spare time, he loved to camp, especially at Whip-O-Will Campsites in the Catskills. He loved living the country life; he enjoyed country music, tinkering around the house, working on his golf cart and spending time on projects in his garage. Robert most enjoyed the time that he spent with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Florence, he is survived by his sons, Robert S. Colarusso and his wife, Melanie of Pleasant Valley, and Stephen A. Colarusso of Hopewell Junction; daughter, Katherine Colarusso and her companion, John of Poughkeepsie; grandchildren, Shawn and Alexander; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog, Jake. Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 14 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home; Rev. Lindsay Borden will preside. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill.
