Obituary of Norena E. Kearney

Norena E. Kearney Norena E. Kearney, a resident of Fishkill, entered into rest Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 81. Daughter of the late Michael V. and Norena V. Hayes Kearney, she was born September 4, 1929 in Beacon. Prior to her retirement in 1980, she was a Head Clerk at Fishkill Correctional Facility. Norena was a parishioner of St. Mary Mother of the Church, Fishkill. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Liberatta in Beacon. She had volunteered for many years with the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and was active in the Democratic Party in both Beacon and Fishkill. She is survived by her sister, Joan M. DiMarco of Wappingers Falls; her brother, James P. Kearney of Fishkill; her nieces and nephew, Joan Williams, Mary Ann DiStefano, Anthony M. DiMarco, Ellen Webber and Patricia Levine; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon on Thursday, December 16 at St. Mary Mother of the Church, Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow in the family plot in St. Joachim's Cemetery, Washington Avenue, Beacon. Memorial donations on Norena's behalf may be made to a favorite charity.
