Obituary of Virginia M. Ferris

Virginia M. Ferris Virginia M. Ferris of Lagrangeville and formerly of Wappingers Falls and Beacon, entered into rest Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 73. Daughter of the late Herbert and Harriet Johnson Watt, she was born January 2, 1936 in Beacon. She graduated from Beacon High School. On April 28, 1957 she married John R. Ferris in Beacon. Mr. Ferris preceded her in death on December 24, 1988. Virginia worked as a Secretary for Texaco Research Laboratory in Glenham. She went on to work for Three Star Anodizing, K-Mart and Marshalls before retiring. Virginia was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Wappingers Falls and the Wappingers Falls Historical Society. She also enjoyed craft fairs. She is survived by her son, George Ferris and his wife, Patti of Cinnaminson, New Jersey; her daughter, Jodi Juckett and her husband, Stephen of Lagrangeville; her grandchildren, Edwin Juckett, Samantha Juckett, Ryan Leroy and Jessica Ferris; her beloved grand-cat, Peanut Butter; her companion Thomas Bassett of Holmes; one niece and two great-nieces. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Harold Watt. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls with Fr. Horace Choate officiating. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill. Memorial donations in Virginia's name may be made to the Wappingers Falls Historical Society, PO Box 174, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
