Obituary of Wilhelmina P. Kenney

Wilhelmina P. Kenney Wilhelmina P. Kenney, a longtime resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Wingate at Dutchess, Fishkill. She was 94. Daughter of the late Ferdinand and Gertrude Ozsbal Palkovic, she was born July 20, 1914 in Newburgh. She was married to the late John A. Kenney who died February 15, 1981. Wilhelmina was a Business Teacher at Wappingers Falls High Scholl and later Poughkeepsie High School. She retired from Poughkeepsie High School in 1970 after teaching for thirty-two years. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons, SUNY Alumni Association of Albany, the New York State Retired Teachers Association and a parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. She enjoyed knitting, cross stitch, reading and keeping a journal. Survivors include her daughter, Roxanna K. Synnett of Wappingers Falls; her brother, Frederick Palkovic and his wife, Margaret of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; her grandson, Michael J. Synnett and his wife, Julia of Amarillo, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Amber Synnett both of Amarillo Texas. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Palkovic. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, LaGrange Avenue, Poughkeepsie. Memorial donations in Wilhelmina's name may be made to St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
