Donald B. Smith
Donald B. Smith, a resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Yonkers, entered into rest, Friday, April 17, 2009 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Cornwall Campus. He was 73.
Son of the late Leslie and Hetti Box Smith, he was born February 14, 1936 in Yonkers. Don proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he was stationed in Alaska and Japan. He retired from the Postal Service in Yonkers where he was a letter carrier. He also enjoyed his time at the Polish Community Center in Yonkers.
He had a great love of sports. He enjoyed baseball especially the Mets as well as football. While living in Yonkers he was on a bowling team at Homefield Bowling. In his younger years he was a caddy which led to his enjoyment of golf. Don also like to keep his mind active by watching Jeopardy.
Survivors include his children, Donald Smith and his wife, Elizabeth of Town of Poughkeepsie, Lynne Smith of Danbury, Connecticut, Lauren Stracquadanio of Wappingers Falls and Daniel Smith of Beacon; his former wife, Barbara and Jerry Martin of West Wareham, Massachusetts; his grandchildren, Victoria and Anthony Stracquadanio and their father, Michael; and Steven, Donald, Jr. and Brittney Smith; his brother, George Smith of Southbury, Connecticut and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Leslie Smith and sister, Florence Foster.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Veterans Section, Wappingers Falls.

The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Elant at Wappingers and the drivers of Alamo Ambulance for all the kindness they showed Don.
