Obituary of Sandy Snowden-Albano

Sandy Snowden-Albano of Staatsburg passed suddenly on Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was 60 years old. Daughter of the late Fred and Elaine Snowden, she was born on September 26, 1953 in Ossining. She married the love of her life, Joseph A. Albano, Jr. on July 27, 1997; he survives at home in Staatsburg. Sandy graduated from Wappingers schools and SUNY Brockport. After a career in retail sales, she found her true calling working for Dutchess County Children Protective Services. Sandy was a beloved and dedicated case worker. In her spare time, Sandy enjoyed cooking and entertaining guests at her home; her barbeque spare ribs were renowned. She was an avid gardener and lover of cats. Her greatest joy was spending time at the beach at her family home at the Jersey Shore. In addition to her husband, Joe, she is survived by her niece, Lacey Snowden; and a great niece, Sara and great nephew, Nicholas. She was predeceased by her brother, James A. Snowden, her sister-in-law, Jean Snowden, and her favorite nephew, Keith L. Snowden. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will follow visitation. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sandy's name to Astor Home for Children, 6339 Mill St, Rhinebeck, NY 12572.
