Obituary of Richard J. Mccullough
Richard J. McCullough, Jr.
Richard J. McCullough, Jr., a resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest, Monday, December 22, 2008 at the Bronx VA Medical Center. He was 52.
Son of Richard and Margaret Armstrong McCullough, he was born March 23, 1956 in the Bronx. His parents survive in Washingtonville. He married Sharon Cohen on July 29, 1999 in Wappingers Falls. Mrs. McCullough survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Navy and later in the Merchant Marines. He was a steamfitter with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Montrose. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed motorcycles especially Harley's, was a good dancer and had a fantastic sense of humor. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, loving father, step-father and grandfather and a beloved friend. He was described as one who would give the shirt off his back to help another.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mari McCullough of Boston; his step-children, Sarah Armstrong and her husband, Rob of Pleasant Valley, Billy McNamee and Julia McNamee both of Wappingers Falls; his brother, George McCullough; his sister, Margaret McMahon; his grandson, Anthony and several niece and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, December 26, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 27 at the funeral home with Chaplain Robert Hershberger officiating. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
