Obituary of Pierre Etienne Jacques

Pierre Etienne Jacques Pierre Etienne Jacques, 73, a thirty year area resident, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 16, 2008. Born in 1935 in Gonaives, Haiti, he was the son of the late Christian Jacques and Renee Maurasse, both pharmacists who owned the Pharmacie Christian Jacques. He attended the College de Port-au-Prince and Lycee T. Louverture in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In 1960, he obtained his law degree from Universite d'Etat d'Haiti-Faculte de Droit in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He went to Jamaica in 1962 to learn English before immigrating to the US in 1963. He married Aline Dufault of Montreal on September 28, 1968. He became a naturalized US citizen in 1970. He got a BBA Cum Laude in Public Accounting in 1973 from Baruch College in NYC and a MBA in Finance in 1976 from NYU Graduate School of Business Administration. He worked as an Assistant Accounting Manager at NYU Medical Center, Fiscal Director at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, Assistant Controller at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and most recently as a Senior Staff Accountant at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie. Survivors include his wife, Aline; daughter, Sylvine Milligan and her husband Daniel "Dan" and their children, Renee, James, Sean and Maraleine; daughter, Victorine Jacques; son, Edwin Jacques and his wife, Aimee and their children, Zachary, Nicholas and Abigail; brother, Ulrick Jacques and his wife, Ita; sister, Antonine D. Pierre; sister, Marie-Rolande Jacques; brother, Gracia Jacques; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernst Jacques, who is survived by his wife, Marie-Jose. Visitation will be held on November 21, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 am on Saturday, November 22 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Memorial Service and entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Community Mausoleum, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
