Obituary of Eleanor M. Svenson

Eleanor M. Svenson Eleanor M. Svenson, a resident of the Town of Wappinger, entered into rest Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. She was 79. Daughter of the late Joseph and Mary DiRocco Laraia, she was born July 4, 1928 in Worcester, Massachusetts. On September 9, 1950 she married David A. Svenson in Worcester, Massachusetts. Mr. Svenson preceded her in death on April 26, 1987. Eleanor retired from US Cablevision in Wappingers Falls. She also worked previously for Grinell Library, Wappingers Falls. She enjoyed gardening, reading and using her computer. She was also a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Wappingers Falls. Survivors include her son William D. Svenson of Wappingers Falls; her daughter, Joan E. Svenson and her companion Stephen Baitinger of Poughkeepsie; her daughter-in-law, Janet Svenson; her granddaughter, Erika Marie Svenson; several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and her well beloved cat. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers Artemio "Artie" Laraia and Jerry Laraia and her sister, Jane Pignataro. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 12 noon at the Church of the Resurrection, Route 376, Hopewell Junction.
