Obituary of Grace V. Harris

Grace "Ginny" Harris Grace "Ginny" Harris of Poughquag entered into rest Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 73. Daughter of the late Frank L. and Grace Atkinson Jaycox, she was born on February 14, 1935 in Hughsonville. She married Ronnie L. Harris on June 23, 1957 at Hughsonville Presbyterian Church; Mr. Harris survives at home in Poughquag. Ginny graduated from Wappingers High School. Most recently, she was a school bus monitor for Wappingers Central School District; all the children absolutely loved her. Ginny was a former volunteer for the Beekman Rescue Squad. In her spare time she loved bingo and casino games. She also liked to knit and read. She was a member of the Hughsonville Presbyterian Church. Ginny had many friends who, along with her family, loved her and will miss her. In addition to her husband, Ronnie, she is survived by her sons, James C. Harris and his wife Darlene of Pleasant Valley, Frank P. Harris and his wife, Nancy of Hyde Park, Charles K. Harris and his wife, Beth of Poughkeepsie, and David L. Harris of Pleasant Valley; daughters, Janet Ratka and her husband, Edward of Holly Springs, NC, and Susan E. Corman and her husband, Leonard of Hyde Park; brother, William Jaycox of Hughsonville; grandchildren, Brian, Thomas, McKenzie, Jessica, Dilan, Charles, Jr., Nicole, Paul, Cameron, Jason, John and Kristin; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Jason, Justin, Kyle and Kollyn; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her brother, Richard Jaycox. Family will receive their friends on Friday, June 6, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 7 at 9:30 a.m. graveside at Fishkill Rural Cemetery; interment will follow.
