Romeo A. Pannozzo
Romeo A. Pannozzo of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 73.
Mr. Pannozzo was born on April 14, 1935 in Providence, Rhode Island. He married the love of his life, Judith Longi on August 20, 1982 in Poughkeepsie; Mrs. Pannozzo survives at home in Poughkeepsie. Romeo could always be heard saying about Judith, "She's not only my wife, she's my life".
Mr. Pannozzo was a Penn State scholar, earning three Master's Degrees in education. He went on to work as a teacher for many years for Poughkeepsie High School, until his retirement. While there, he not only taught but acted as coach for the football and track teams. In his spare time, he was a member of the Elks BPOE and the Italian Center, both in Poughkeepsie. He was also an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife, Judith, he is survived by his sons, Nicholas Pannozzo of California, and Kevin Deyo and his wife, Josephine of Tallahassee, FL; daughters, Kellianne Holtz and her husband, Marion of Hyde Park, and Kathleen Deyo and companion, Kathy of Lansing; his sister, Mary Campagnone of North Providence, RI; his aunt, Rachel Pannozzo of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Kerrianne Holtz, Kristi Holtz, Vivian Deyo, Sean Deyo, Cole Rourke, David Rourke and Benjamin Rourke; and several nieces and nephews.
Romeo was predeceased by his brother, John Pannozzo.
Family will receive their friends on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2 at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Romeo's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
