Obituary of June Stevenson Byrnes

June Stevenson Byrnes June Stevenson Byrnes, age 73, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, May 17th. She was born on June 30, 1934, at Vassar Hospital to the late Warren and Edith Stevenson. She was predeceased by son Daniel and younger brother David Stevenson. June spent much of her life in the Poughkeepsie area. She graduated from Wappingers High School and later attended college at The University of Florida. There she received a teaching degree, later returning to Poughkeepsie, where she taught 5th and 6th grade in Pleasant Valley. She taught elementary school for seven years, before choosing to stay home to care for her children. She enjoyed cooking, reading, watching sports, swimming, and most of all just spending time with family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family; husband Herb, son Dan, daughter Missy and her husband Chris, daughter Amanda and her husband Drew, and grandchildren Kye, Erik, Darren, Jake and Luke. She loved life and will be missed each and every day, and will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A memorial service and reception will be held in her honor at Faith Assembly of God, 254 Spackenkill Road, Poughkeepsie, on Saturday, May 24th at 10:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
