Adeline Bishop
Adeline Bishop of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at Lutheran Care Center. She was 84.
Daughter of the late Theodore and Adeline Rifenberg Lake, she was born on August 30, 1923 in Poughkeepsie. She married the love of her life, Earl G. Bishop on June 27, 1964 in Poughkeepsie; Mr. Bishop survives in Wappingers Falls at McClelland Home for Adults.
Mrs. Bishop worked as an inspector for Kem Cards Company in Poughkeepsie for 30 years, until her retirement in 1985. In her spare time, she belonged to many local organizations such as the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #1302 and the Mardets Bowling League. She also was a volunteer for many years for Castle Point VAMC. Mrs. Bishop was also a member of the Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Earl, she is survived by her brother, Charles A. Bishop and his wife, Susan of the state of Florida; and sister-in-law, June Bishop of Poughkeepsie; nieces and nephews, Clarence D. White and his wife, Ura of Wappingers Falls, Christine Edkins of Wayne, PA, Cathy Thielke of Canastota, and Andrea Fortier of Palm Coast, FL.
She is predeceased by her brother, Theodore Lake; brother-in-law, Herbert A. Bishop; and sisters-in-law, Ura H. Powell, Mildred Bishop and Helen Bishop.
Family will receive their friends on Sunday, June 1, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
