Mildred B. Carlson
Mildred Bernadette Carlson passed away at the age of 95, peacefully at her home with her family at her side. She was born February 21, 1913 in Brooklyn, NY to Edmond and Catherine Guilmet and was sister to Edmond, Dorothy and Catherine who have all predeceased her. Mildred was an employee of the N.Y. Telephone Company for 37 years. She was a lifetime member of the N.Y. Telephone Pioneers. She married John E. Carlson on June 17, 1934 in Queens, NY. Her husband John predeceased her in December 1965.
They had three daughters Joan B. Carlson and a second mother for Helen B. Hoerning both of Woodstock Georgia, Susan F. Carlson R.N. of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. with whom she made a home, Carol A. and Otto K Schaefer of Wappingers Falls, N.Y. Mildred had four grandchildren John H. Schaefer of Albany, N.Y., Michael K. Schaefer, Laurie E. Kowalski and Lisa A. Gilmore all of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Their beloved and special spouses Kimberly J. Schaefer, Drita Schaefer, Edward Kowalski and John Gilmore.
She had nine great grandchildren Tyler, Karleigh and Kourtney Kowalski and Emily, Abigail, Sabrina, Marie and Andrew Schaefer and Isabella Gilmore. Mildred enjoyed her family first in life and enjoyed every gathering that included as many friends and family as possible. Especially her close and dear friends for many years Erwin Schaefer, Cecilia Kubis, Christine Kubis, Carol Piersa and Josephine Bochenek. The family included most recently several extremely important friends from Hospice which were her nurse Susan, Chaplain Chris, Cleo, Sylvia, Patricia and all those who showed compassion and love to our beloved mother.
Mildred was a devout Roman Catholic and attended St. Mary's and Mt. Alvernia in Wappingers Falls, New York.
Family will receive their friends on Monday, March 31, 2008 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Tuesday, April 1 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
