Rosemary MacKay
Rosemary MacKay of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 66.
Daughter of the late John and Rose Healy Boyle, she was born on June 11, 1941 in Manhattan. She married the love of her life, Charles J. MacKay on April 30, 1960 at Holy Family Church in the Bronx; Mr. MacKay survives at home.
Mrs. MacKay graduated from St. Jean's High School and then Thorpe Secretarial School, both in New York City. She went on to work for various Real Estate Agencies, most recently as an agent for Weichert Realty in Lagrange.
Rosemary belonged to many organizations throughout her life. She was a former member of the New Hackensack Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and member of the Catholic Daughters. Formerly, she was a religious education teacher for St. Mary's Church, where she was a parishioner. In her spare time, she loved to garden and collect cookbooks, but most of all loved spending time and playing with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Charles, she is survived by her sons, Charles J. MacKay of Wappingers Falls and Kevin M. MacKay and his wife, Jennifer of Hyde Park; her daughter, Veronica Callaghan and her husband, Daniel of Glastonbury, CT; her brother, William Boyle of Wappingers Falls; grandchildren, Sean, Kevin, Cathryn, Jack, Charlotte and Elizabeth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rosemary is predeceased by her brothers, John Boyle, Jr. and Kevin Boyle, and her sister, Regina Boyle.
Family will receive their friends on Sunday, February 17 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 18 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rosemary's name to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.
