Obituary of Jerzy J. Bialy

Dr. Jerzy J. Bialy Dr. Jerzy J. Bialy of Beekman passed away peacefully on January 25, 2008 at Vassar Medical Center, with his family at his side. He was 79. Born in Stanislawow, Poland on April 20, 1928, he was the only child of Jozef and Maria Bialy. He came to the U.S. in 1948 and attended San Diego State College, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1952. He met his wife, Shirley Ruth, in San Diego; they were married on July 11, 1953 in Corvallis, Oregon. After receiving his Ph. D in Chemistry from Oregon State College in 1956, he and Shirley relocated to Beacon where Jerzy accepted a job with Texaco Research in Glenham. He worked for them until his retirement in 1983, earning many patents for his research on fuels. In addition to his wife Shirley of 54 years, he is survived by his children, Alex Bialy and his wife, Carol of Kingston, Krysty Ginader and her husband, Curt of Wappingers Falls, Terry Badura and her husband, John of Hopewell Junction, and Bron Bialy and his wife, Ingrid of Millbrook; seven grandchildren, Dan, Tom and Ben Ginader, Robyn Badura, and Ethan, Zane and Griffin Bialy; and several cousins in Poland. He also is survived by Aliya Tarlikova, who has provided loving care as his health aide for the past year at home. Dr. Bialy was a long time member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fishkill. Family will receive their friends at the church on Tuesday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Jean Campbell officiating. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Vassar Medical Center South Circle 7 for the wonderful care and support they gave to Jerzy and his family during the last days of his life; they were truly a blessing.
