Guy M. Calhoon
Guy M. Calhoon, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 81.
Son of the late Derwood and Violet Platt Calhoon, he was born February 9, 1926 in Ossining, New York. He married the former Naomi Carl on August 7, 1954 in St. Anna's Church in Ossining. Mrs. Calhoon preceded him in death on June 9, 2007.
Prior to his retirement, Guy worked for the United States Postal Service in Ossining. He was a parishioner of St. Martin de Porres Church, Poughkeepsie and a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
He is survived by his children Nona Murphy and her husband Robert of Cortlandt Manor, NY, Nora Gyetko and her husband Steven of White Plains, NY, Stella Johnson and her husband Lee of Hardwick, VT and Patrick S. Calhoon and his wife Judy of Poughkeepsie, NY; his grandchildren Tina McKeehan, Robert Murphy, Jr., Daniel Murphy, Sandra Scott, Phillip Johnson, Laura Calhoon, Michael McKeehan, Kristen Calhoon, Kyle McKeehan and Jessica Calhoon. He was predeceased by two sons Michael McKeehan and Kevin Calhoon and his sisters, Geraldine Dent, Wilfreda Lambert, Doreen Roy and Janet Gale.
Family will receive their friends from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, June 22, 2007 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 am Saturday, June 23 at St. Martin dePorres Church, Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie,
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Guy's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
