Arthur R. Tompkins, Jr.
Arthur R. Tompkins, Jr. a resident of the Village of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, February 10, 2007 at his home. He was 77.
Son of the late Arthur and Anna Murphy Tompkins, Sr. he was born November 14, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York.
On June 15, 1952 on Long Island, New York he married the former Jane F. Lauritano. Mrs. Tompkins survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1956. He went on to work for IBM for twenty-seven years. He retired as an engineer from IBM, East Fishkill.
In addition to his wife of fifty-four years, Jane F. Tompkins, he is survived by his children, Ralph A. Tompkins of Hopewell Junction, Arthur R. Tompkins, III and his wife, Barbara of Poughkeepsie, MaryJane Duffy and her husband, Keith of Middletown, Maryland and Gregory E. Tompkins and his wife, Louise of Salt Point; his sister, Catherine Landerer of Virginia; his grandchildren, Cory and his wife, Erica, Christina, Brittany, Terrence, Merrick, Stephen and Trudy; his great-grandchildren, Bridget and Noah and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Marie and Frances and his brother, William.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A funeral service will be held at 8 pm during the visitation.
