Paul J. Cipolla
Paul J. Cipolla of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Saturday, June 17, 2006 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 88.
Son of the late Carmelo and Sabastiana Palagonia Cipolla, he was born on December 10, 1917 in New York City. He married the love of his life, Mary Sutera on September 1, 1945 in New York City; she precedes him in death, passing on January 11, 1985.
Mr. Cipolla attended New York City schools. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1943-1945 in the 12th Armored Division. During his service, he received many decorations and commendations such as the EAME Theater Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning home, he worked as a sheet metal worker for Local #3 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, until his retirement.
Survivors include his children, Ann Marie Pendola and her husband, Charles of Kentucky, Geraldine O'Hare and her husband, John of Wappingers Falls and Paul Cipolla and his wife, Michele of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Dawn Behymer, April Aylor, John O'Hare, Steven O'Hare, Michael O'Hare, Toni Cipolla, Kristi Cipolla, Nikki Cipolla and Cassi Cipolla; great-grandchildren, Cody, Brooklyn, Andrew and Hailey; and several nieces and nephews.
Family will receive their friends on Tuesday, June 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, June 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, NY, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
