Virginia C. Chardavoyne
Virginia Coleman Chardavoyne of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. She was 74.
Daughter of the late Edward and Virginia Starr Coleman, she was born on November 2, 1930 in Cold Spring. She wed her loving husband Russell E. Chardavoyne on May 28, 1955 at St. Mary's Church in Cold Spring. He preceded her in death, passing on January 7, 1997.
Virginia worked as a library clerk for the Wappingers Falls School District for many years. She was also a very active member of the Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls. She acted as secretary for the Zion Alter Guild and for the Zion Vestry for over 30 years.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol C. Helion and her husband, Peter, of Poughkeepsie and Christine C. Legun and her husband, John, of Wappingers Falls; her sister, Eleanor Polhemus of Arizona; grandchildren, Amanda Netsch and Jeffrey and Eileen Helion; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Russell, Virginia is predeceased by her sister, Gertrude Harris.
Family will receive their friends on Friday, July 22 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Virginia's name to the Zion Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, 12 Satterlee Place, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
