Gloria J. Trofinoff
Gloria J. Trofinoff, a resident of Beacon for 27 years, entered into rest Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 62.
Daughter of Antonette Plesh Ruggiero and the late Joseph Ruggiero, she was born on March 5, 1943 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. She wed Henry P. Trofinoff on May 13, 1967 at the Most Precious Blood Church in Hazleton, Pennsylvania; they remained happily married for almost 40 years.
Mrs. Trofinoff graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Biology and also graduated from Matland School of Nursing in Newark. She went on to work as a nurse for Dr. Chun in Beacon, for many years. She was devoted to her faith acting as an avid parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon and a lifetime CCD teacher both in Pennsylvania and Beacon; most recently taking vows to become a Third Order Franciscan. Gloria was active in the Mount Beacon Railway Committee acting as former secretary. She was also involved with Keepers of the Circle and the Committee for Social Justice as well as other charitable and social organizations.
In addition to her mother and her husband, she is survived by three sons, Michael J. Trofinoff of Mine Hill, New Jersey, Daniel J. Trofinoff of Harrisburg, North Carolina and Stephen Trofinoff of Cold Spring; one daughter, Barbara Trofinoff of Martinez, California; her brother, Joseph Ruggiero of Hazleton, Pennsylvania; four sisters, Angie Tracy of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Mary Ann Ruggiero, Annette Foose and Grace Ann Johnson, all of Hazleton, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she is predeceased by her brothers, Gerald and Michael Ruggiero.
Visitation will be private.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, December 23 at 9 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist, Willow Street in Beacon. Interment will follow at Most Precious Blood Cemetery in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
