Obituary of Anna M. Ferraro

Anna M. Ferraro, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Monday, June 16, 2014 at Wingate at Beacon. She had just celebrated her 99th birthday. Daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Oberhammer, she was born June 7, 1915 in Scarsdale. She married Frank J. Ferraro on September 25, 1935 in Mamaroneck. Mr. Ferraro preceded her in death on March 18, 1981. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wappingers Falls where she belonged to the Lela Scofield Circle. When Anna was the Sexton at the United Methodist Church, she had to keep the church warm by stoking the coal furnace and removing the ashes. Anna also cut the church lawn using a push mower. Anna was a faithful potato peeler on Saturday mornings for the church roast beef dinners that raised money to support the outreach programs. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Frank J. Ferraro, Jr. on June 2, 2000. She is survived by several close friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anna's name may be made to the United Methodist Church, 9 South Mesier Avenue, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
