Obituary of Alphonse Alfred Lefebvre

Alphonse Alfred Lefebvre, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home. He was 82. Son of the late George and Aline Penelle Lefebvre, he was born September 21, 1935 in Central Falls, Rhode Island. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Central Falls, RI. Alfred went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Korea in the 1950's. He married the former Cleo Kay Gayarre on September 13, 1958 in Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Lefebvre survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Alfred worked as an Electronic Technician with the Federal Aviation Administration at Dutchess County Airport. Together with his wife, Kay, he owned and operated Little Angels Day Nursery in Wappingers Falls from 1985 to 2006. He was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1646 in Wappingers Falls. He was a former board member of the Mid-Hudson Rivermen Drum and Bugle Corps. Alfred was also a coach with Town of Wappinger Softball. He had a passion for his cockatiels; breeding them and having up to thirty birds at home. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox. In addition to his wife, Kay, he is survived by his children, Paul Phillip Lefebvre and his wife, Colleen of McKinney, Texas and Denise Aline Roarabaugh and her husband, Thomas of Poughkeepsie; his sister, Marie Rita Malloy; his grandchildren, Ryan and Katelyn Roarabaugh, Janelle Martin and Phillip and Taylor Lefebvre; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Edouard and Gerard Lefebvre and sisters, Therese Depot, Gertrude Vigeant, Lucille Pigeon, Lillian Arcisz, and Claire Johnson. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 23 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9 in Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
