Obituary of Joan M. Angot

Joan M. Angot, long time resident of Hopewell Junction, NY entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 2nd, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center; she was 74. Born in Newburgh, NY on October 20th, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Harriet Embler and Joseph Vallo. She was a very proud woman who took pride in the simple things in life, like her home and her family. She always stood up for those who needed support, with an open door, and warm bed for those in need. Her home was always full of good food, love, and laughter. She had a big heart, and filled her home with children. She raised 5 of her own, fostered children, and tended to the neighborhood kids. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary and and E.M.T. For Hopewell Hose Fire Department for many years. An avid bingo player, and casino enthusiast, she was happiest on her bus trips with her friends and daughter to Mohegan Sun Casino. She will always be remembered as the woman who loved to get her hair done, and had a scarf for every occasion. She spent many years working as a Monitor at Gayhead Elementary School, where she was known and loved by all the children. After retiring from Gayhead, she spent 20 + years in Medical billing for Wingate in Fishkill NY, and most recently, before her retirement in 2013, for River Valley in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. On September 10th, 1961, she married the love her life, Robert J. Angot, Sr. in Fishkill, NY. She was predeceased by him in July of 2001. She is survived by her 5 children, Lisa Burlingame of Hopewell Junction NY, Robert J. Angot Jr. of Katonah, NY, Jon Angot of Stanfordville, NY, Michelle Angot of Beacon , NY and her youngest son, Joseph Angot, of Hopewell Junction, NY, 13 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild born May 2017, A sister Gail Arrigo Price of Beacon, NY, and brother, Ted Vallo of Florida. Services are private as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations to be made in her honor to www.sepsis.org. Arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
