I wanted to share that my father, Ed Ulicny, was on the Sea Robin on that trip around Cape Horn as well. What an adventure! We lost dad last December. I hope Carl and Ed connect in the hereafter to reminisce!

My deepest sympathy to the Johnsen-Winkler families, as they say their goodbyes to: their husband, their father, and their grandfather. So many happy memories were had at the Johnsen house as I grew up and later into my adulthood. May you all find peace, in the love and memories that at left to share. Hugs to you all. Tammie

Thank you Carl for all the kindness you have shown us over these many years. You were always there to help David and I whenever we needed it up in Brainard. You are loved and missed. I am sure your parents and brother and son were happy to see ya. It's time to rest.

Mary, sorry for your loss, Carl was a great guy and loved you very much as judged by his actions. My bride Shirley has been gone 3 + years; she liked you very much. You travel on with fond memories and shared past events. Hope our trails cross again. May the good LORD bless and keep you.

Mary Lou & I offer our sincere condolences to Mary, their family and friends. We are saddened by the news.
My first meeting with Carl was some 25-30 years back and overjoyed to learn that that we both had served aboard the same boat, USS Sea Robin.
Through the years that shared experience was the fuel for many memories and conversations concerning shipmates past & present. I was proud to able to bring Carl together with several of his shipmates that had served with him during his service aboard USS Sea Robin in 1946-49.
I'll miss Carl. Rest in peace SHIPMATE.
