Obituary of Varick Stringham

Varick Stringham, III, a resident of Claverack, entered into rest Tuesday, April 11, 2017 in Millerton. He was 44. Son of Varick Stringham, Jr. and the late Judith Mitchell Stringham Monach, he was born October 31, 1972 in Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of John Jay High School and went on to attend SUNY Plattsburgh, Rutgers, and SUNY Buffalo to earn a degree in engineering. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Varick owned and managed properties in Claverack. He was also a builder of adventure parks. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed many activities. He loved four wheeling and built his own vehicles for these adventures. He enjoyed skiing and snowboarding as well as paragliding. He treasured the time spent with his daughters, especially time spent exploring the natural world. He is survived by his father, Varick Stringham, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Wappingers Falls; his daughters, Nolah and Meribelle Stringham of Milton; their mother, Crystal Middleton; his sisters, Amanda Zarrelli, Pamela Thallner, and Rebecca Stringham; his step-brother, Christopher Slightam; his step-sister, Amy Napolitano; as well as his nieces and nephews, Tony, Michael John, Marissa, Dylan, Max, and Francesca. He was predeceased by his mother, Judith Monach. A memorial service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, April 21, 2017 at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376, Wappingers Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
