Obituary of Salvatore Petrillo

Salvatore Petrillo, husband, father and grandfather, passed away on November 22, 2016, after a long and rich life of over 91 years. He immigrated to the United States, via Ellis Island NY, 61 years ago from San Benedetto, Caserta, Italy. The 16th of 18 children, he was the last of a line of siblings spanning from WWI through WWII. He will always be remembered as true pioneer who helped build the skyline of New York City working for Local 20, Cement and Concrete Workers Union. The World Trade Center, Shea Stadium and Lincoln Center are but of a few of the projects he contributed to in his 35 year career. Salvatore or better known as "Papa" was a kind, passionate, and religious man. Heaven must be even more beautiful now, because he is there. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Angela Maria Petrillo, their five children; Domenico, Maddalena, Salvatore Jr., Angela Jr. and Maria, their grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 26 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Entombment will follow Woodlawn Cemetery, Webster Avenue & E 233rd Street in the Bronx. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Food Pantry, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
