Obituary of Laura Odell Buck

Laura Odell Buck, a resident of Beacon, entered into rest Monday, October 17, 2016 at her home. She was 97. Daughter of the late Eddie Lee and Vera Cruz Wray, she was born August 9, 1919 in Itta Bena, Mississippi. She married Dudley Rawson Buck, Jr. on June 30, 1946 in Greenwood, Mississippi. Mr. Buck preceded her in death on May 4, 1966. Prior to her retirement, she worked as receptionist at Texaco Research Center in Glenham. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Fishkill. She enjoyed traveling and loved to complete crossword puzzles. She will be remembered for her love of her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Rawson Buck and his girlfriend, Jill Hickey of Beacon; her grandchildren, Chris Lanzoni and his wife, Kristie, Marco Lanzoni and his wife, Krista and Luke Greenfield and his wife, Sarah; her great-grandchildren, Will and Jack and Marlie and Marco; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Marsha Relyea and her sisters, Jesse and Marie. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 21 at the First Reformed Church, 1153 Main Street in Fishkill. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations may be made to First Reformed Church, 1153 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
