Obituary of Sandra J. Stewart

Sandra J. "June" Stewart, a resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care in Highland. She was 84. Daughter of the late Alexander and Wilhelmina Meredith Mason, she was born June 11, 1932 in Manhattan. On May 12, 1951 in the Bronx, she married Harry F. "Bob" Stewart. Mr. Stewart preceded her in death on March 15, 2003. June devoted her life to raising her family. She treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren and nieces. She is survived by her children, Robert Stewart and his wife, Denise of Highland Mills, Janet Shaughnessy and her husband, Edward of Wappingers Falls, Douglas Stewart of Poughkeepsie, and Michael Stewart and his wife, Alyson of Poughkeepsie; her brother, Alexander Mason and his wife, Beatrice of Pearl River; her grandchildren, Lauren Severiano, Kevin Stewart, and Caitryn Stewart; her great-granddaughter, Alexis Severiano; as well as her nieces, Emily Picciolo and Toni-Ann Slagle and their children. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Jeanne Picciolo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in June's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105.
