Obituary of Gloria D. Muhlbauer

Gloria D. Muhlbauer, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Saturday, July 23, 2016 at The Pines at Poughkeepsie. She was 94. Daughter of the late Jean David and Claire Marotta Izzi (Culver), she was born March 1, 1922 in Corona, Queens. On December 29, 1946, she married Louis C. Muhlbauer at St. Theresa's Church in Astoria, Queens. Mr. Muhlbauer preceded her in death on December 11, 2005. Gloria proudly served her country during World War II in the United States Coast Guard. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a cosmetician at Flah's in Poughkeepsie. She also did make up for County Players in Wappingers Falls and various local fashion shows. Mrs. Muhlbauer was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls for over fifty years. She was a member of the Skyllkill Chapter of the Embroiderers Guild of America where she was involved in restoring a tapestry at Mills Mansion in Hyde Park. Survivors include her four children, Claire Muhlbauer of Poughkeepsie, Marianne Muhlbauer of Wappingers Falls, Paul Muhlbauer and his wife, Joan of Hopewell Junction, and Christine Muhlbauer of Wappingers Falls; her granddaughters, Krista Corinne Muhlbauer Ferrara and Kimberly Renee Muhlbauer Endres; her nephews, William G. Culver and Scott Culver; and her niece, Debra Culver Thomson. In addition to her husband of fifty-eight years, she was predeceased by her brother, Henry J. Culver, Sr.; and her nephew, Henry J. Culver. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 25, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
