Obituary of Gerald Conners

Gerald "Gerry" Conners was born in Poughkeepsie on April 14, 1942, to the late Lillian and Herman L. Conners, and passed July 15, 2016, due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Gerry worked as a painter in the auto body business all of his life, but his passion for painting was not limited to cars. Gerry gladly spent countless hours painting Pop Warner football helmets, the neighborhood children's' bicycles, and even touching up the firetruck before a big parade. Gerry never complained about a hard day's work; he embraced it. Gerry was known for his love of 50's music, dancing, and pointing out that he still had a full head of brown hair. Gerry is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn of 53 years, their children, Scott and his wife Christie of Wappingers Falls, Brian and his wife Kelly of New Hamburg, and daughter, JeriLynn of New Hamburg. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Mckenzie, Brian Jr., Avery, Alyssa, BellaRay, Fallon, Aidan, and Bailey; his sisters, Mary and Joan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Herman, Robert, and Joseph and sisters, Jenny, Isabelle, Anna, and Penny. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 21, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22 at Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls with the Rev. Canon Deborah G. Tammearu officiating. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
