Obituary of Carmine Capraro

Carmine Capraro of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at home. He was 87. Son of the late Joseph and Assunta Rubino Capraro, he was born on January 29, 1929 in New York City. He was married to Mary C. Owen Capraro; Mrs. Capraro preceded him in death, passing on June 6, 2015. Carmine worked as a contractor for the IUPAT in New York City. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating and belonged to various boat clubs. Carmine was an all-around good and likeable guy. He was also a member of St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls. Survivors include his son, Christopher Capraro of Eastchester; daughter, Laura Zazzaro (Nicky) of Bronx; stepchildren, Jean Duffy of Thousand Oaks, CA, and Robert Duffy of Hollywood, CA; sister, Mary Volonnino of Nyack; grandson, Michael Zazzaro; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Antonio Capraro. Family will receive their friends on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carmine's name to St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
