Obituary of Jac Antonio Cortes
Jac Antonio Cortes, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Thursday, August 8, 2024 at MidHudson Regional Hospital. He had just turned 14.
Son of Juan and Christina Cortes, Jac was born July 25, 2010 in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Jac was a student in the Wappingers Central School District and looking forward to his eighth grade year at Wappingers Junior High School. Jac was a fun and loving kid who had many friends. He enjoyed many things in life. Jac loved to fish with his family and his friends. He enjoyed sports like basketball and football. Jac loved the New York Giants and Saquon Barkley. Jac was a sneakerhead and collected Jordans, which he kept in brand new condition. He liked to play video games on PlayStation and listen to reggaeton music. Jac could tell you anything about cars, from the newest to the classics. He was learning how to speak Spanish and wanted to go to Puerto Rico desperately. Jac loved to find recipes online and make them by himself, his speciality was sopa de pollo (Spanish chicken soup). Jac was always helping others out of the goodness of his heart.
In addition to his loving parents, Juan and Christina, he is survived by his brother and sisters, Christian Cortes and his wife, Tina, Alyssa Cortes and her partner, Andrew Maslosky, Kayla Cortes and Alexa Cortes; his nephews and niece, Joelle, Chance and Layla; his grandparents, William Kinsell and Juan and Deborah Cortes, numerous aunts and uncles and countless cousins.
Jac was predeceased by his grandmother, Michele Swarner-Kinsell, who the family knows greeted him on the other side.
Family and friends will gather to remember and celebrate Jac on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16 at St. Martin de Porres Church, Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. Entombment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
