Obituary of Thomas P. Byrnes, Jr.

Thomas P. Byrnes Jr., age 68, a resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on August 7th, 2024.

Tom, proud of his Irish heritage, excelled academically earning his MBA in Project Management from Washington University and worked at IBM for 43 years until retirement. Nothing brought more joy in his life than time spent with family. Jumping at any chance to get them together for a beach vacation, time at the pool, or dinner. Tom loved golfing, spending time with friends at the New Hamburg Yacht Club, and buying and selling cars was a passion.

Thomas Byrnes is the son of Thomas Byrnes Sr. and the late Ann Byrnes. He is survived by his devoted wife, Denise, and their blended family; Heather (Dustin) Harrison, Hannah (Travis) Frenzel, Sarah Byrnes, Megan (Mickey) Casem, Loren (Michael) Soltish, Lyndsay (Jacob) Menz, and Brett (Stephanie) Fanger. Thomas had 9 beautiful grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Emma, Mason, and Everett Soltish, Antonio and Oliver Casem, Drew, Parker, and Henley Menz, and Morgan Frenzel. Additionally, he is survived by his 5 siblings Mary Beth Polkoski, Karen Delaney, Keith Byrnes, Jeffrey Byrnes and Christopher Byrnes along with his nieces and nephews.

Above all else he will be remembered for the unconditional love for his family, joy he brought, and jokes he told.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14 at St. Mary’s Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls.
