Obituary of Margaret Ann Flaherty

Margaret Ann “Peg” Flaherty, 86, a resident of Poughkeepsie passed away at home on Sunday, June 9, 2024.

Daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth Johnson, she was born April 9, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She would have celebrated her sixty-first wedding anniversary with her husband, Michael J. Flaherty, on June 15 this year.

She worked at Oak Grove School for over thirty years. Peg enjoyed playing cards with her neighbors, was an avid reader and loved going to plays and the movies. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren.  

Peg is survived by her six children, Christopher Flaherty and his wife Jen, Beth Levesque and her husband, Ray, Kathy Martinelli, Jackie Flaherty-Petty and her husband, Michael Petty, David Flaherty and his wife, Mary, and Greg Flaherty and his wife, Rachelle Louis; ten grandchildren, Michaela Flaherty, Liam Flaherty, Silvya Levesque, Sean Martinelli, Mackenzie Martinelli, David Martinelli, Timothy Petty, Matthew Petty, Margaret Petty and Ian Flaherty.

Family and friends will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 13 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road in Poughkeepsie. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to County Players, 2681 West Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
