Obituary of Gertrude M. Minotti

On April 10, 2024 Gertrude “Trudi” Minotti returned to her heavenly home after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Her love and devotion to her family and her unending faith in God kept her going through her journey which ultimately gave her peace.

The daughter of the late Eugene and Gertrude Schuele, she was born on May 25, 1944 in Clinton Corners, New York. On September 4, 1976, she married Joe Minotti who pre-deceased her in 2023.

Trudi taught aerobic classes at All Sport in Fishkill for over 20 years. She was the subject of an article written a few years ago. Trudi was also the owner of Degarmo Hills Plaza in Wappingers, which was built by her father Eugene Schuele in the 1950s. She owned and operated Degarmo Hills Wines and Liquors for over 30 years in that same plaza.

Trudi will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, omah, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Trudi is survived by her children, Eugene Chrinian of Ridgewood, New Jersey, Heidi (Chrinian) Boula of Poughkeepsie, Joseph Minotti, Jr. (Lisa) of Jacksonville, Florida, and Thomas Minotti (Melissa) of Stormville; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Justin, Ashley, Brandon, Bradley, Michael, Christopher and Jonathan; great-granddaughter, Lauren; sister, Joan Scotti Middleburg; as well as nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank her doctors - Dr. Ryan Denley (Oncologist), Dr. Varun Kumar (Gastroenterologist), Dr. Vincent Savath (Primary), Dr. Lawrence Soloman (Cardiologist) - and the whole team at the Infusion Center at the Dyson Cancer Center. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Trudi’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Family and friends will gather on Monday, April 15, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16 at New Hackensack Reformed Church, 1580 Route 376 in Wappingers Falls. Inurnment will follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Avenue in Poughkeepsie.
